Finals

Currently, my brain/body/soul is being taken over by the above mentioned words. I’ll (hopefully) see you next week, when school is over and I’ve had the weekend to readjust.

Weekly Adorations 12.9.11

Happy Friday! Happy weekend! ONE more week for the semester to be over! This weekend shall be filled with the highest amount of fun as I head down to NYC for the Mega Media Showcase hosted by my lovely schoolmates. I’ll get to see various other friends, too. Much excitement!

- Picasso also had a dachshund (named Lump)!

- This coconut/chocolate pie looks absolutely delicious.

- This love letter necklace is filled with sweetness.

- This is a great gift tag idea!

- I’m undeniably in love with this big chunky plaid scarf.

- TCM will be honoring Eastman preservation efforts!

- I certainly speak fluently in movie quotes.

Pink vs. Blue Jeans

I decided to do this outfit post because of a recent conversation with my mom. As she was teasing me for only owning two pairs of jeans (I’m a skirt/dress girl), I hurried to say I had three, and reminded her of the pink ones I own. Apparently, they don’t count. Jeans constitute as blue denim. Alas, I disagree. My pink ones suffice gloriously and I much prefer wearing them over the blue ones I own.

Anyway, I compared the two colors and used the same top, sweater and boots. Each jean got its own bag and the earrings/bangles could easily go with each outfit. You might notice the bag (very similar to this one), taunting me once again, just in a different color! Cruel.

Weekly Adorations: 12.2.11

Well, happy December! I’m so excited for this weekend (not really)! Two weeks left of the semester = no time for fun. Other than my normal weekend tea visit with Emily, I’ll be closing myself up in my house working studiously away on paper writings and readings. One paper is about Marshall McLuhan, Videodrome, and Cronenberg and the other is on Vertigo and a subject I haven’t thought of yet. Laura Mulvey? Too easy. Hitch’s romantic irony perhaps? Also easy, but fun. Ah, decisions. At least I have the McLuhan one figured out. That was the difficult one.

And for the adorations!

- I think I need this bikini top for when I move back to Los Angeles.

- DIY votives using mason jars and fabric.

- colorful SmartWool boot socks.

- Construction of Mt. Rushmore (I’m so excited to see it for real next year).

- November 29 marked the 25th anniversary of Cary Grants death. Such a sad loss for the world of cinema.

- I want this spiral staircase to be in my future home.

- Want a deck of awesome cards? I’d go for one of these: Helveticards, Tim Burton Playing Cards, or Monochromatic Deck of Cards.

Warby Parker

After hearing about Warby Parker for some time now, I finally decided to give it a try and ordered my next pair of glasses from them! I have to tell you, the process is amazing and simple (and extra awesome). First, you get to pick 5 pairs to try on at home (delivered to you for free!). I actually put my contacts in so I could wear the glasses all day. I picked the Thompson in Whiskey Tortoise. They were only $95 with the prescription and the best part, every pair you buy, a pair is donated to someone in need!

They’re customer service is also stellar, as you can see by this email I received:

I love you too, Warby.

Black, Red, Leopard, Stripes, & Pearls

I really love leopard print and stripes together. The only leopard print item I own is a skinny belt (shameful). I shall have to put this blouse or a similar one on my “Closet Necessities” list (yes, this list is real). Perhaps the striped jacket, too.

It’s better (in my own opinion) to have basic items that are of greater quality, than a random stash of less expensive ones. One of the reasons I’m so fond of all the above pictured items is their ability to be mixed and matched. The basic black tights, skirt, and purse go with anything and everything. The red flats and belt are a festive addition to any neutral base and you can’t really go wrong with stripes, leopard, pearls, or a pair of black shades. You can dress each piece up or down, too, which is an excellent bonus.
